The German Order – Spain and England on a Double

4-2; I am speechless. It was a given that Germany was going to qualify. I said 2-1 or 3-1 tops, but never 4. It was not all a bed of roses though; there are some flaws in the mystical Joachim Low formation. I don’t like that Reus even though he scored. He missed a bunch of goals.

Germany is all about effectiveness. If one of the 11 are not making the precise moves at the end of plays the whole system collapses. But its understandable. Its understandable because it’s a year of regrouping for the German side. It’s a time when the old give into the new. Joachim has performed beautifully given the circumstances. To my amazement, the German side scored 4 goals which is a plus against any team in Europe at this stage, even the weak Greek side.

There were also some minor flaws that I noticed in terms of attitude and effectiveness. This is the case of the penalty given by Boateng. True this is a new side and he is not up to par on a mental level thus far, but at this stage in the game, why would you do this insane acrobatic maneuver given the proximity of the ref and the game stats and time it took place? It is unheard of from a German player. These types of issues need to be fixed immediately by the coach if they really want to make it big in this competition.

One last thought before tomorrow: My candidate to win the Euro is Spain. Vicente is still the best out there, and the most offensive. I am a fan of what the Brazilian´s call “Futbol Arte”. Soccer with an art form; an offensive one. They still deserve the win because in my humble point of view, fans who pay to go to the stadium and the billions who watch this on the TV are in this to see a spectacle, something that will make their hearts roar. They don’t usually partake in these emotions when they see a defensive Italy or an organized Czech side that lost last night. They see this when Barcelona and Madrid play against each other, or when you see famous figures like Ronaldinho or Cristiano Ronaldo perform excellent offensive plays. This is why I choose them not only to qualify on a double ticket with England for the remaining of the quarter finals, but to win the tournament outright.
